
I must confess this is the category I put myself and my company in when working with a small business. Therefore, you must read the rest with a grain of salt as my biases will show.
From a personal point of view, as a self-proclaimed expert technologist my true joy is to work with people — not really with technology anymore. The technology is really a great means to accomplish magic for small businesses. I love to create advantages for the small businesses through technology — give them a leg up in the quest for market share and mind share.
I had been an actor, a practitioner of Internet technology, for a long-time; now like many experienced actors, I have moved to directing — a role that I had been playing for last ten years. By directing other actors — my engineering staff — and couching the stakeholders — the small business owners — I attempt to create stories with happy ending. My rewards are same as the ones I had when I held the first copy of my very first book — creative satisfaction.
By creating genuine partnership with my customers, it becomes easy to think on behalf of them as if every problem they face is my own. By regularly touching base with the customers, we learn about their directions, growth, needs and concerns.
